Our last goodbye to John
He had suffered a protracted illness earlier in 2009, but seemed to have recovered well, and was his usual cheery self on Friday when he left work John had been a loyal member of the Goosemoor team since April 2003, and he was a very popular member of staff His time was divided between working in our warehouse, and delivering produce to customers, although he had previously also helped process orders in the office. He was devoted to his regular weekly customers, especially those on his Leeds delivery run He had expected to work for another couple of years before retiring, after which he planned to move to Australia Our thoughts go especially to Steph and his family Funeral ArrangementsDuring his illness earlier this year, John had expressed a desire that if the worst happened, he could be laid to rest at Goosemoor. After his death, we felt honoured to be asked if burial here was possible, and were happy to say yes John's funeral is to take place at Goosemoor on Saturday 26 September at 11am The service will be conducted by a humanist celebrant in our warehouse, and John will be buried in our paddock in a wool-covered cardboard coffin Afterwards, we will retire to the Spotted Ox in Tockwith Steph has requested that instead of flowers, donations can be made to the Woodland Trust All are welcome - footwear needs to be suitable for a short walk which skirts a wet area Click to see a map and travel instructions At a later date, there will be a tree planted in John's memory |
