A last farewell to Mick
He fell ill in April 2008 after a week's break, and was subsequently diagnosed with Lymphoma. After treatment in St James' Hospital Leeds, he was moved to St Michael's Hospice, Harrogate, where he died peacefully surrounded by his family Mick was universally popular with both staff and customers ever since he started work here in May 2001. He had a great sense of humour, and he was a loyal and hard-working member of the team. Break-times were always characterised by his falsetto 'Tee-ea' on the dot of the hour, so no-one on the premises could forget to head off to the canteen for refreshment! He was always up for a challenge, and completed the 70 mile Great Yorkshire Bike Ride in 2003 for Team Goosemoor, helping to raise over £2000 for charity. Mick was a qualified member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists, and he was also our First Aider Throughout his illness, he remained determined that he would get back to work, and now we are all devastated by the knowledge that he will not return Our thoughts go especially to his wife Janet and his family Funeral arrangementsMick's funeral will be held on Wed 17 Dec 11:40 at Stonefall Crematorium, Harrogate - fellow Geese will be in attendance |
