Credit-crunch Comparison!

In the first week of July we priced up the contents of our £3 vegebox with similar organic produce from Sainsbury's and Waitrose (except Waitrose only had non-organic peppers)

We were flabbergasted to discover that were you to buy the contents of Goosemoor's £3 vegebox from either of these supermarkets, it would cost you over 70% more!  Another way of looking at it, if you already buy from supermarkets, is that you can save over 40% by buying from Goosemoor!

So why spend £5.20 when you can get the same for just £3?  And you'll also be supporting a local business which has ethics and care for the environment at its core

What’s Growing this month?

Pea in flowerThe pea plants are sending their tendrils racing up the supports, and setting plenty of pods, but they need time for the peas inside to swell, and it's easy to be impatient and pick them too early!

Basil growing in a tunnelThe herbs are soaking up the hot sunshine, particularly the basil and parsley, although the basil will soon start to reduce leaf production as it begins to flower.  Parsley being a biennial, doesn't flower at all until its second year, and so produces leaf all through its first year

Cucumbers are cropping well, but the chillis will take a couple of weeks longer to get into their stride.  We're growing 3 varieties this year: Hungarian Hot Wax (mild), Jalapeno (hot) and Ring of Fire (hottest!) - you have been warned!
