Organics to wear!

Our new range of organic clothing and towels offers a variety of sizes, styles and fabulous colours in certified organic, fair-traded cotton.

Our supplier,  Bo Weevil, is committed to fair trade policies.  These include guaranteed buying to enable farmers to plan further into the future, a fair price (usually 15-30% higher than normal prices), and the avoidance of child labour.

We have been wearing Bo-Weevil T-shirts printed with the Goosemoor logo for the last couple of months and are impressed with the quality.

Negative environmental effects of the cotton industry

The cultivation of conventionally-grown cotton uses intensive applications of pogrown annually.  Although this represents only about 3% of all cultivated land, cotton accounts for an estimated 18% of all agricultural chemicals used.  Before being made into garments, cotton is usually treated with a long list of chemicals.  Descriptions such as hand-picked, green, eco and unbleached are often misleading and give no guarantee of environmentally-sound production.
