Charitable Donations

In line with our usual policy, this year we will again be making donations to charities,  replacing what we used to spend on free hampers for the coordinators – we hope you agree that it is money well spent!

Gifts That You Send Us

At the end of the last week of the year, we run a tombola for all the staff to share the gifts sent in from suppliers and customers.  This means that any gift you send will be shared amongst the staff ‘in the wings’ who you may never meet but nevertheless play a vital role, as well as those ‘in the front-line’ who you see or speak to every week.

Campaign News

Sustrans has just been announced as the winner of the Peoples' £50 Million Lottery Giveaway - their vision is 'a world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment. Every day we are working on practical, innovative ways of dealing with the transport challenges that affect us all.'

Their Connect2 project will enable people throughout the country to make more journeys safely by foot, cycle and on horseback.  Work begins in the New Year, so watch out for local developments such as the Harrogate to Ripley route on the former railway line over the Nidd Viaduct.

What's Growing this month

Claytonia (aka Miners' Lettuce or Winter Purslane)December is a quiet month for our own crops - we buy in maincrops like potatoes, carrots, swedes, parsnips, leeks and cabbages from local growers, but we continue to produce small amounts of salad leaf, spinach and herbs in our own tunnels, but unfortunately, in the cold dark days of winter, demand exceeds supply!

We'll soon be deciding what to grow next year, so if you have any favourite salads or herbs that you'd like us to supply, do let us know.
